My family cat MICKEY is sadly being put down this week. Which is super sad, but he lived for an amazing, happy, CATastrophic 18 years! He was loved very dearly and will be missed.

Coco Avant Chanel – "Coco before Chanel"

I watched this film for the first time the other week and was in awe. It is a beautiful little piece of French escapism that combines a real life rags to riches tale, an impossible love story and a fashion revolution. Audrey Tautou, is the beautiful French actress who plays Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel and she is stunning and truly shines as Chanel.

I was completely inspired by the costumes and the simple sleek classic style her character develops throughout the film. Lots of tailored jackets and pants, collared shirts buttoned to the top and boater hats. For fashion lovers you may not get the couture injection you would expect from a fashion film, but it definitely makes up for it with the glorious French backdrop in every frame.

My favourite part of the film was when she goes to the seaside with her lover and she sees the fisherman wearing the blue and white-striped fisherman tops, which she then later wears in the film. Stripes are my all time favourite accessory, and it was a pleasure to see where it began.

This film is a must see of Chanel’s revolutionary “less is more” approach to fashion and is beautifully and faithfully depicted.
